LIVING IN FEAR- MURDEROUS MADRAS

Swathi, a techy girl bled to death. This sentence was invariably used in all media—Print or otherwise. Rather,it was Chennai, that bled thorughly, last month. The news of murders greeted everyone in the morning in the print media and the feeling of insecurity gripped all. Everyone was forced to think whether he/she would be able to return home unscathed and alive, once stepped out of their home considering the situation in Chennai. If unchecked, even now it would be hard to be safe, even remaining within the four walls of their abode. Virtually there is no deterrent. Even the lawyers themselves are no different. It’s noteworthy to mention here that four lawyers themselves were fallen victims in a few murderous assaults that happened in broad day light. There is a fresh and experienced government in place which is spellbound and the Chennai police at it’s disposal, once hailed as second to none in efficiency and compared to Scotland yard police, still blindfold without clues. No express stand or assurances from at least the last rung of the official machinery, symbolizing the existence of a government. Remember police department has been kept under herself, by the chief minister of Tamilnadu, coming under the home ministry. Synonymous with the name of the ministry, it looks as if it looks after the home alone of the minister concerned. The judiciary too, finally taking some time off from it’s routine of protecting itself with the help of central Industrial Security forces and threatening the bar with new draconian laws, to shed some light on the lackluster police force, asserting itself to see some judicial functions as well. There are some cases still remain mysterious and undetected even with it’s intervention including the Feb 19,black day happenings is a point to fathom. The society at large that rose brilliantly and spontaneously and helped itself during the unprecedented mega floods last December, seemed to have thought twice to even to help Swathi survive the onslaught out of ignorance of law, let alone they act like our heros of cinema to avert the unfortunate incident itself is also something strange. Last, but not the least, the plight of the always failing Almighty, who was seen very often in the dinosaurs era, coming down to earth to maintain law and order, helping the victims then earnestly, has also deteriorated in the discharge of His duties miserably of the late. The class of our unshakable and relentless faith in such God, keeps us intact to repose faith in the failing system as well benefiting the people in the helm in the pillars of our democracy.
